Real estate expertise is only part of what you should consider when choosing a listing agent. Your home is one of the largest assets you are ever likely to sell so it is necessary to choose an agent who is immersed in the local market.
Listening skills and empathy are also so important. Choosing an agent that really hears what you are prioritizing in the sale of your home, whether it be the speed of the sale or getting the best price, will ensure that YOUR goals are at the forefront.
Negotiation skills and strong relationships in the real estate community are also invaluable so your agent can work well with buyers’ agents, answering questions in a timely manner and following up when needed.
You want to choose an agent with an unimpeachable sense of ethics. Being trustworthy and truthful are characteristics that are invaluable to a functional Realtor-Seller relationship (and to being a good person).
All of these characteristics are critical! Find someone who is knowledgeable, empathetic, connected, and ethical BUT ALSO find a marketer.
We’ve been in a local market where simply listing a house has meant that it will sell. That market is shifting, requiring agents to remember what it looks like to really market a property. As the founder of a small marketing company with my husband, ISC Media, I use all of those skills to get your property in front of the right people so you can meet your selling goals. Here are a few of the videos we’ve produced recently to promote open houses and give prospective buyers a taste of what these homes can offer.
